With every model year release the automotive brands tend to improve their existing models that results in more capability as well as popularity. But there are examples of some changes that even stepped down from the earlier height of performance ratio, among which many such changes can be seen under the shades of Hyundai, and now on Genesis.

We all know that the  2019 edition of Genesis G80 gave us three engine options, one being a 3.8-liter V6, the other 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6, and another was the 5.0-liter V8. But with the arrival of 2020 modelsGenesis decides to drop down the V8 option from the lineup. A reliable source serving at the Deptford Township Genesis dealership say, that the 2020 G80 range will be topping off with the power of V6 engines. That is plainly indicative of the fact that there’s going to be a steep decline in the horsepower count in the next G80 models. But we are sure that Genesis will compensate this apparent loss in some other way.

The Probable Reason Behind this Difference

Knowing the nature of the Genesis brand, the reason behind such changes is quite transparent. With the increasing deficiency of natural resources, and price hike, Genesis had to ponder over the fuel economy requirements that that might have certainly played an important part in taking this decision, as the 3.3-liter V6 earns the G80 one more count of fuel economy rates in all city, highway and combined drives. Rumors are spreading that the brand has plans for introducing two four-cylinder engines among which one will be a turbocharged 2.5-liter that can throw up to 300 units of hp.

The entry-level trim models of 2020 G80 will, thus continue with their 3.8L V6 engines milling out a capable 311 horsepower and 293 pound-feet of torque. Another option expected to be included in the 2020 lineup might be of 3.3L twin-turbo V6 engine that drives with 365 hp. A standard 8-speed automatic transmission will be seen for both the drivetrain configurations across the entire 2020 range. Many are expecting an all-new 2.5L turbo four to join the lineup but not within the timeframe of MY 2020.

Any Redesign?

As per the information shared by the Deptford Township Genesis dealer, the 2020 Genesis G80 is about to surprise you with a complete new design while improving its overhaul chassis. At the exterior front a shield-shaped front grille will probably cut through the reworked intakes, and all the door handles might get shifted belowallowing stronger shaped shoulder lines. Theside mirrors are all set to receive new door-mounting locations, while the trunk can slope down to the edges of the rear window to look more dated and futuristic.

The newly redesigned 2020 version of Genesis G80 might also undergo slight changes in its interior, with the introduction of a new infotainment system in combination with more advanced tech features, while some of the new trims might upgrade in their materials as well.
