2018 Hyundai Ioniq
The 2018 Hyundai Ioniq is the latest in the maker’s series of electric hatchbacks and certainly promises a lot more than its predecessor. The new model is set to have a higher range in mileage of up to 200 miles (320 km). It will also take less time charging its battery and a lot more time till the next top-up due to better efficiency. It will also have just the right amount of space and comfort to appreciate its entertainment system.
2018 Hyundai Ioniq Interior
The car’s interior is quite pleasant. As mentioned, the designers weren’t stingy on space; it will be enough to seat five and carry a bit of load in its luggage bay. Just like the predecessor, the battery pack sits below the rear seats and this may affect the headroom for those seated up back or the amount of space in the luggage bay. However, the center screen’s quality has been improved. Couple that with the impressive instrument panel whose features greatly add to the car’s practicality and you shouldn’t doubt that the drive will be pleasant. The interior will mainly be black, but there will be a tan option for some models.
2018 Hyundai Ioniq Engine
The car maker will roll out three variations of the 2018 Hyundai Ioniq. Just like the 2017 version, there will be a regular hybrid, a plug-in hybrid and an electric model. Reviews from tests already suggest that it will be quicker. This will be through its single-speed transmission which, for the electric model, makes for smooth acceleration. The car’s 0-100km/h time is claimed to be 9.9 seconds which is quite impressive. The power output will be 104kW well ahead of most similar vehicles in the market. This power will be delivered to the front wheels for all model variations of the car and transmitted via a six-speed dual clutch. The non-electric models’ engine will have a capacity of 1.6 liters supplemented by the electric motor. A feature worth noting is the vehicle’s sport mode which makes for a more lively driving experience. Like the preceding model the 2018 Hyundai Ioniq will also have levels of regenerative braking that can be set by the driver.
2018 Hyundai Ioniq Exterior
Five exterior color options are offered for the 2018 Hyundai Ioniq’s exterior. Its aero design features the signature high tail at the back. The look of the front will vary with design; just as the predecessor the hybrid and the plug-in hybrid will have a grill while the electric will have a blanking panel in the grill area. It will have wide LED lights with smoother edges that make it pleasing to look at.
2018 Hyundai Ioniq Price and Gas Mileage
The price of the 2018 Hyundai Ioniq is yet to be announced but it is estimated to be within the $37,000 – $40,000 range. With a fuel usage value of 3.3L/100km for the hybrids the price is quite sensible. Sales are expected to start in early 2018. But can it compete with the Model 3 by Tesla? We’ll have to wait and see.
