2018 Dodge Challenger
The current Dodge Challenger is a true muscle car marked by its high performance engine, suspension system and design. The Challenger has been around for a while now and upgrades are necessary to keep up with the competition, who have been constantly upgrading their cars’ driving characteristics, tech and interior comfort. According to Dodge, we should expect several changes in the new 2018 Dodge Challenger. The new Dodge Challenger will sit on a new RWD (Rear Wheel Drive) platform. They have also promised that the new Challenger will have independent suspension for all four wheels. We should also expect a lighter chassis and some design changes on the car’s body as well. The combined changes should give the new Dodge Challenger better fuel economy and faster speed.
2018 Dodge Challenger Interior
The new Dodge Challenger has a redefined interior with changes in the cabin to increase space. The base model will have room for up to four people making the car a four-seater. Dodge will definitely improve the quality of materials, instruments and interior design to make the vehicle’s interior more luxurious than it’s competitors. However we expect even more changes in the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon model. In the SRT Demon, Dodge engineers have removed the front passenger seat and the back seat leaving the driver’s seat only. They have also removed the carpet and added a roll-cage to the interior of the SRT Demon model.
So far, we have not gotten any information about the 2018 Dodge Challenger’s interior colors combinations.
2018 Dodge Challenger Engine
Based on the information we have so far, we cannot tell for certain what type of engine Dodge intends to use to power the 2018 Dodge Challenger. However, we expect some of the models to have turbocharged engines and other models will use smaller engines.
We expect to see a 272 HP 2 Liter Inline 4 engine in the new Dodge Challenger base model. Further up the range, we shall get a 3.6-Liter V6 or else a 5.7 Liter V8. There will also be a new 3 Liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine with a power output of about 400 HP and 400 lb-ft of torque.
At the top of the range, the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon will pack a 6.2 Liter V8 engine under its hood. The engine will also deliver about 757 HP (unconfirmed) and more than 650 lb-ft of torque. The SRT Demon engine will work with a 8-speed automatic transmission. The 2018 SRT might come with and AWD but that is unconfirmed for now.
2018 Dodge Challenger Exterior
There will be tremendous changes in the future Dodge Challenger compared to the current Challenger. We do hope that Dodge will retain some of the vehicle’s defining traits, for example, the car’s aggressive front and the car’s general personality. There are rumors that some of Challenger’s models will have their name changed to Barracuda in which case we should expect such models to differ greatly compared to the current generation of Challenger’s models.
The 2018 Dodge Challenger will receive a new cold air intake. Sportier versions such as the SRT Demon will get larger intake openings and larger hood scoops than previous models. The new 2018 SRT Demon in particular will come with 315/40 size NT05R tires from Nitto. The SRT Model will also have a wider body design to accommodate changes in the suspension system, wheels, and steering. The most notable changes in the SRT’s exterior design is the more pronounced fender flares compared to the Hellcat’s fenders flares.
According to spy shots, the car is available in Red (white stripes), sapphire Blue (white Stripes), Gray, and we expect the 2018 Dodge Challenger to come in the usual colors as seen in previous models.
